what I did

What I Did Today

I didn’t invade.

Woke up at 4:40 am with cold feet. I had kicked off the blanket in my sleep. I suppose I could have been be proud of the achievement as I had had a heavy blanket on top of me. And a gigantic headache. I don’t recomend starting the day this way. Couldn’t do much of anything around the house as I didn’t want to wake anyone. And at this hour, there was nothing I wanted to do on the internet

Got up, showered, and dressed. It’s important to do this in the right order. I also shampooed, It’s critical to live large every now and then.

I woke up super tired. Had a coffee drink. Then another, This is rare. Sliced onion, carrots, and potatoes. Put these ingredients and corned beef into two crock pots. Started the slow cooking

Picked up a friend. Then we went to the dentist for x-rays and teeth cleaning. I know! Fun.

Drove home. Got back just in time to invade Texas. What can I say? I love brisket.

But I fell asleep. When I woke, Texas’ invasion hours were over.

Sliced cabbage. Put cabbage in slow cookers. Slow cooked for another 45 minutes. (Not me, the food,)

The natives loved the corned beef meal.

Well, that’s enough excited for today. Must learn to pace myself.

Au revoir.

What I Did Today

Will he like his taco?

Got up, showered, and dressed. It’s important to do this in the right order.

As usual, I did not wake up refreshed. Had a coffee drink.

Went grocery shopping.

Went to exercise class. Getting fit.

Drove home. It was so slow due to huge amounts of traffic and road repair sites that took a major freeway from two lanes to one.

Balanced check book.

Had left overs.

Decided to go back in time to debate philosophy with my man, Plato. However, I speak no ancient Greek and his modern-day English is quite rudimentary. We went to a toga party. Let me tell you, Plato rocks.

We shook hands and went our separate ways. I did give him a taco before I left. That might affect history. I don’t know.

Owie Day

I had planned to patrol for scouts from Venus. I had been anticipating their imminent arrival. Unfortuately, I had to see a doctor and then do errands. As we all know, the Venusian invaders didn’t land today. Perhaps my sternly worded message, “Now, see here,” scared them off. Perhaps they liked the chocolate chip cookies  I left them in a space bubble so much, that they refrained from attacking. Or maybe, just maybe, they found something more entertaining to do at home. But whatever the reason, they didn’t invade and I, for one, am happy about that.

Meanwhile back on Earth I saw a doctor for the bursitis in my shoulders. One shoulder was so bad that it disturbed my sleep. The shots to help, hurt a fair amount, but only for a short while. I did errands and suffered through backed-up traffic. At one point, there was no remotely reasonable route how that didn’t involve inching past road repair. Does the county coordinate? Are there any road repairs that have more than one worker actually doing anything?

Anyway, I’m exhausted.

Please refrain from invading Venus. I think the crisis has passed.

What I Did on Superbowl Sunday.

I had this for breakfast.

1) Woke up again, showered, and dressed. The streak continues.

2) Had cereal and sausage for breakfast. You know it’s only a matter of time before someone sells Sausage Cereal(tm). “With little sausage bits.”

3) Did lots of tax preparation. Such fun.

4) Made everyone one in Idaho a grilled-cheese sandwich. People liked them. They said the sandwiches were “yummy.”

5) Took a well deserved “book bath.” The book is The Rising Sun and is about Scotland’s disastrous attempt to colonize Panama in 1698.

6) Did lots and lots of latch hooking.

7) Said “You’re welcome” to Idahoans calling to say “thank you.”

8) I don’t have regular tv, so I didn’t watch the Super Bowl. Number Two Son provided a link to the game on my computer but I feared I would somehow bring down the global internet if I tried, so I didn’t.

9) Yahoo has something where you can click on something. If  you do, you see a little football and every 30 seconds or so, a short sentence appears and tells you what happened. The considerable charms on the Super Bowl were lost on me.

10) Time to watch another episode of “Medieval Legacy.” I rock.

Behave yourselves.

Blockbuster Blog: What I Did Today AND The Great Latch Hook Project

2/10/2024

1) I woke up, always a good thing.

2) I showered and dressed. Hygiene and appearance always matter.

3) Went to grocery store to get ingredients for French Dip Sandwiches and other special meals.

4) Spent time looking for everything.

5) Had to go back to the store. Wasn’t happy.

6) Drove back home.

7) Looked up my subsitutes for my  still missing ingredients.

8) Not happy. On the plus side, I had no time at all to rush out to street and foment revolution. So some good came out of it.

9) Fired up the slow cooker.

10) Worked on latch hook project. It was a struggle, because in my naievete, I had thought it would be fun to start in the middle. However, it became quite difficult to keep my place when my work from the bottom came close to my initial work in the middle.

11) This also kept me off the streets.

12) I had to take out 100-200 pieces of yarn that were wrong. Hint, don’t rely on the colors you see on the grid or mat. For the love of God, Montressor, don’t.

13) This kept me off the streets yet again.

14) Did more latch hooking.

15) Dinner should be ready in an hour.

16) I am declaring my day to be officially over.

17) The streets are safe from revolution

Behave yourselves.

What I Did Today

The Sun looks like me when I have just showered.

1) Woke up.

2) Showered. I became amazingly clean and shiny to the point I rivaled the Sun.

3) Then I went super nova–sorry about the heat wave.

4) Then I got better and things went back to normal.

5) Went to the grocery store to get ingredients for a special meal. We’ll have it tomorrow.

6) Worked on finances.

7) Spent a while on the Great Latch Hook Project. I did 192 squares, a new daily record! Go me.

8) Gathered records for taxes, always a fun time.

9) Did two Thursday New York(tm) Times crossword puzzles while taking a bath.

10) Watched three episodes of Medieval Legacy. It’s good to learn things in case I find myself going back in time.

11) Wanted to find the Source of the Nile, but found out it had been done multiples times.

12) So, I organized an expedition to find the source of Poway’s Rattlesnake Creek. Wish me luck.

My Busy Day

My day was so busy and my back hurts so much that today’s recap will show only the three highlights.

Spent the entire morning organizing taxes. Such fun!

I put together two more soda/bottle racks. It then took over two hours to reorganize the whole thing. It presently holds 194 can/bottles with room for maybe 30 more. Here’s what it looks like.

194 bottles/cans and counting.

I then made chicken Florentine for the natives. The ingredients for the 1st layer are: cream of celery soup, mayonnaise, sharp cheddar cheese, lemon juice, salt, pepper, Meditteranean spice mix, rice vinegar.
2nd Layer: rice, water
3rd Layer: chicken breasts, vegetable oil
4th Layer: creamed spinach, milk, Swiss cheese, onion, Dijon mustard, thyme, coriander, Poulty Magic spice, and salt
5th Layer: bread crumbs, butter, and Parmesan cheese.

What I Did This Very Day

I drank one ounce of this bad boy.

1)  Got up.

2) Got out of bed.

3) Dragged a comb across my head.

4) Became inspired to write a really great song.

5) Realized the Beatles had beaten me to publishing the song. Missed it by that much.

6) Showered.

7) Dressed. It’s cold out there.

8)  Tried to double my savings by thinking it about really hard.

9) My mental telepathy failed me there.

10) Thought really, really hard about stopping the meteor, Bacon123ka, from hitting the Earth.

11) My mental force field obliterated the comet. Woo hoo, I saved the world!

12) But no one knows I did it. Ah well, such is life.

13) Went to eye therapy.

14) Came back.

15) Ordered something to help me with the Great Latch Hook Project.

16) I walked 500 miles.

17) And I walked 500 more just to be the guy who’d walk 1,000 to get to your front door.

18) But you weren’t home. Bummer. And I walked 500 miles and I walked 500 more just to get back to my front door.

19) My feet are sore.

16) Made beer-sourdough bread.

17) I had one-ounce of near left over after the bread recipe, so I chugged it down just to drown my sorrows.

18) Dinner is next.

Behave yourselves.

What I Did Today

My time on Mars was necessarily brief

1) Woke up. The streak continues. Go me!

2) Showered, Cleanliness is next to godliness.

3) Renewed CD.

4) Briefly contemplated the infinite.

5) Went to monthly massage therapy. She spent much more time on my head and neck than usual because I walked into a window at last week’s craft class.

5b) If you’re wondering does walking into a window hurt, the answer is yes.

6) Ate lunch.

7) Went to the library for this week’s crafts session. Made progress on my latch-hook project.

8) Did not walk into a window at any time.

9) Help with friend’s CD question.

10) Used extra-springy trampoline to bounce my way to Mars.

11) Had to return to Earth right away as I can only hold my breath so long.

12) Fortunately, NASA had left a trampoline on Mars during its last mission there.

13) Bounced my way back to Earth. Boy, did I take a big gulp of air!

14) Ordered some place markers for the Great Latch Hook Project.

15) Made quesadillas for the natives.

Behave yourselves.
