What I Did Today

Will now burn for at least another week

Busy, busy day. I’m exhausted.

1) Woke up.

2) Got up. Go me!

3) Worked on finances.

4) Caught up on people’s lives on Facebook(tm).

5) Toasted a pastrami, turkey meat, and provolone sandwich.

6) Cleaned up.

7) Contemplated the infinite. This takes a while.

8) Worked on a Thursday, New York Times(tm) crossword puzzle.

9) Read from Mary’s Land, a wonderful novel and designated bathtub book.

10) Finished bath.

11) Dressed. Go me. Contemplated going outside.

12) Didn’t. Decided it was too peoply outside.

13) Checked the fuel reserves of the Sun.

14) They were a bit low. I added a wheelbarrow full of wood to it.

15) We will have another week of sunlight before I have to top off the Sun Again.

16) Writing and publishing this blog.

17) Sent my weekly condolences to Pluto for losing its full planetary status.

18) Pluto says, “Hi.”

19) Will make tacos for the natives after I post this.

Behave yourselves.

Things I Did Today

I did seven things of varying importance today.

1) pulled weeds
2) cooked poutine for dinner
3) looked over my finances
4) diverted a comet that was on a path to collide into Earth. It would have ended all life on this planet.
5) did word-finds, an exercise for my eyes
6) worked on an adult (this adult artistic skill, not steaminess) coloring book. This was another eye exercise
7) took Number Two Son to the airport.

I think I’ve earned a good rest.

Paddle Their Butts, A Loving Poem

I don’t recall how many years I wrote this, in 2008 maybe, but my muse was surely angry.

Paddle Their Butts

AIG lost wellover $100 million.
AIG got $170 billion in bailouts.
AIG gave its top execs $170 million in bonuses.
Paddle their butts.

America is outraged.
We are losing our jobs.
We are losing our homes.
Paddle their butts.

When things well well, they kept it all.
When things went sout, we bailed them out.
Heads they win, tails we bail.
Paddle their butts.

AIG almost brought down the world’s finances.
AIG almost caused a world-wide depression.
The architects of this got paid $170 million.
Paddle their butts.

A good spanking might make future execs
think twice before raping the economy.
You can’t enjoy your riches with a sore bottom.
Paddle their butts.

What I Did Today

Intergalactic Sperm Cell (left) Tries to Impregnate Sun

1) Saw to my retirement funds.

2) Saw to my health care.

3) Helped take down an outdoor trampoline.

4) Prepared homemade sauce and pork/meatballs for spaghetti dinner.

5) Prevented Earth from spiraling out of its orbit and colliding with the Sun. Things would have gotten hot.

I’m rather proud of 5).
