Very Tired

My stunt double

I haven’t slept well for some days now. So, I’m very tired. I did go to my crafts group and worked on my Minnie Mouse latch project. Then I shopped for three special meals. It took  a long time. I had planned to make Strawberry Balsamic Chicken but was  too tired and had sad graham crackers instead,

I’m too tired to make a special picture, so my Stunt Double is going to fill in for me instead. He’s rather a nice guy.

Minnie Mouse Latch Hook Project – Part 2

The amazing saga of the Minnie Mouse Latch project continues. There is a little extra excitement associated with this project, though. The company that sold this kit, put down the color grid on the mesh at a slight angle. Usually if the side of the square I’m working is red, I use a bit of red yarn. However, the color on the side of the square is sometimes half red and half black. In these cases, I have to make an executive decision. These choices are fraught with concern. If I pick the color unwisely, will the fabric of the time-space continuum be rent in twain? Will our Earth leave its orbit and spiral into the Sun?

So far, no.

Anyway, here’s what it looks like.

Minnie Mouse Latch Hook Project – Part 1

I finished my Charlie Brown latch hook project, but with illnesses, doctor visits, and plate tectonics I’ve delayed starting a new project.

But no longer.

But first, two days I brought the mounted Charlie Brown(tm) latch hook to the crafts class. A librarian saw me holding it and took a picture. My project and I will be in a forthcoming county newsletter. Two other crafters took pictures as well. It all made me feel special and I was dearly needing a pick me up.

I’m taking over a friend’s barely started latch hook of Minnie Mouse(tm). It’s a little harder as the thread is somewhat thicker,

Anyway, here is my start.

The Great Latch Hook Project – Part 10

Yesterday, I finished the Great Latch Hook Project. I started around the beginning of the year. It took 8,740 hooks. I went through major delays from May to now, due to Covid and surgery. But now, it’s mounted in a frame. I persevered.

Go me.

The Great Latch Hook Project – Part 9

Today, I latch hooked for the first time since May 3. I had been laid low with a nasty case of Covid. I felt fatigued for a few weeks after that. But today, I felt okay. Yay.

I’m back. I have resumed eye therapy and physical therapy. I’m starting to walk more. And I’ve taken up cooking meals again. Woot.

I even solved a future tax problem.

Watch out, world. I’m back.*

* = Ok, I would also like to get most of my hearing back, but the trend is good.

Anyway, I’ve done 104 out of 113 rows. Here is the work so far.

The Great Latch Hook Project – Part 8

I just finished solved a rather ugly mess with my CPAP company. I’ve decided to and been forced to take more care of my body lately. I’m taking two exercise classes a week. I am getting a back massage once a month and I will be taking a yoga class once a week once my back is up to it.

Last Latch-Hook update saw adverse winds preventing the penguins from invading the rest of the world. The penguins, alway a fractious lot, got bored waiting to board their invasion armada. Tempers flared. Words that couldn’t have taken back were said such as, “Your mother is a communist vegan.” Face slapping escalated quickly. Two penguin demagogues emerged. The one-time cute critters took sides. Penguin civil war broke out. The lights have gone out in Antarctica.* We shall not see them again in our lifetime.”

Well, I know it’s winter in Antartica so there are no lights anyway. Let’s just take this sentence as a powerful metaphor, shall we?

Anyway, I’ve done 94+ out of 113 rows. Here is the work so far.

The Great Latch Hook Project – Part 7

It has not been the happiest of times lately with me taking seven extra days to fix my taxes. Then I shall have to spend $200. Sigh. It is indeed fortunate that adverse winds prevented the penguins from invading the northern six continents as I was simply too busy to pay any attention to these Antarctic adversaries.

Number Two Son made a tasty beef stew. I made Chinese Black Bean Chicken. Good culinary day.

Anyway, I’ve done 82 out of 113 rows. Here is the work so far.

The Great Latch Hook Project – Part 6

Yesterday was such a busy day. The Earth’s core is filled with nickel. Yes, it is. Well, have you been there? Anyway, Earth’s Core, EC, was fed up with having an inner, no view, cabin on Cruise Ship Earth.

“Four billion years,” it said, “that’s long enough. I want to be on the surface.  I want to see the stars and the Moon. I want to feel the wind brush all over me. I want to see the Folies Bergère. I’m coming out now.”

“Do you mean you’re telling the rest of the world that you’re gay?” I asked.

“I’m not. I’m molten metal. Anyway, I don’t get out much. And speaking of getting out, give me one good reason I shouldn’t bubble to the surface and cover the world,” said EC.

“There wouldn’t be any tacos if you suffocated us all with your metallic self.”

EC sighed. “Ok, but send me some tacos.”

And so, I spent of yesterday drilling a taco tube to EC. EC liked his tacos very much. It says, “Thank you.” The world is again at one with itself.

I am happy to say that I was able to take up latch hooking again today. I have done 4,752 squares out of 8,588. I am up to Charlie Brown’s neck.

Here’s what it looks like:

What I Did on Superbowl Sunday.

I had this for breakfast.

1) Woke up again, showered, and dressed. The streak continues.

2) Had cereal and sausage for breakfast. You know it’s only a matter of time before someone sells Sausage Cereal(tm). “With little sausage bits.”

3) Did lots of tax preparation. Such fun.

4) Made everyone one in Idaho a grilled-cheese sandwich. People liked them. They said the sandwiches were “yummy.”

5) Took a well deserved “book bath.” The book is The Rising Sun and is about Scotland’s disastrous attempt to colonize Panama in 1698.

6) Did lots and lots of latch hooking.

7) Said “You’re welcome” to Idahoans calling to say “thank you.”

8) I don’t have regular tv, so I didn’t watch the Super Bowl. Number Two Son provided a link to the game on my computer but I feared I would somehow bring down the global internet if I tried, so I didn’t.

9) Yahoo has something where you can click on something. If  you do, you see a little football and every 30 seconds or so, a short sentence appears and tells you what happened. The considerable charms on the Super Bowl were lost on me.

10) Time to watch another episode of “Medieval Legacy.” I rock.

Behave yourselves.

Blockbuster Blog: What I Did Today AND The Great Latch Hook Project

2/10/2024

1) I woke up, always a good thing.

2) I showered and dressed. Hygiene and appearance always matter.

3) Went to grocery store to get ingredients for French Dip Sandwiches and other special meals.

4) Spent time looking for everything.

5) Had to go back to the store. Wasn’t happy.

6) Drove back home.

7) Looked up my subsitutes for my  still missing ingredients.

8) Not happy. On the plus side, I had no time at all to rush out to street and foment revolution. So some good came out of it.

9) Fired up the slow cooker.

10) Worked on latch hook project. It was a struggle, because in my naievete, I had thought it would be fun to start in the middle. However, it became quite difficult to keep my place when my work from the bottom came close to my initial work in the middle.

11) This also kept me off the streets.

12) I had to take out 100-200 pieces of yarn that were wrong. Hint, don’t rely on the colors you see on the grid or mat. For the love of God, Montressor, don’t.

13) This kept me off the streets yet again.

14) Did more latch hooking.

15) Dinner should be ready in an hour.

16) I am declaring my day to be officially over.

17) The streets are safe from revolution

Behave yourselves.
