I Am a Fashion Model – Sexy Summer Socks

The very latest fashions from France! And what will the Beau Brummels of the world  be wearing? Why, socks about tropical paradise. Socks about large wild animals. Socks about food.

These are socks that proclaim to the fashion world, “I have something to say.”  Mais oui, chat-up lines are out, chat-up socks are in.

Above, we see sexy socks from straight from the prestigious La Maison de la Oh La La. Your sweetheart will be saying “Oh La La” after flashing her lusting eyes on this alluring hosiery.

And the excitement keeps coming. Monsieur Fromage of Le Monde Chausette raves, “Mais oui we are living in exciting times. For all history, we’ve shackled the sock wearers to the notion that socks must match. Mais non, we have throne this idea ancienne into the dust bin of sock history. Today, we proudly wear socks that tell, how you say, a story.”

And in the above photos you can see the fulfilment of this daring, visionary dream. Together, the left two socks weave a story of tropical passion and intrigue. The middle two socks lure us into a world of exotic adventure, a romantic safari perhaps? The right socks regale us with culinary masterpieces. Your date will be eating up your two course meal.

Bonne chance, my fashion-following friends.

Computer Crash

Hi! My computer crashed this morning. It just wouldn’t turn on. It took me much of the day just to boot up the computer again. Unfortunately, in doing so I wiped all my files and my programs for spreadsheets and word processing. I got a fairly recent backup of files back on the computer. However, getting the programs back on is being hard.

I hope you’re having a much better day. If something good happened to you, I’d like to hear it.

Thanks.

Things That Make Me Sad, #1

I try hard to always post things that are helpful and make you laugh. If I succeed in that, then I’m happy.

Sometimes, though, the world gets a bit much to bear. The following is a recurring event that saddens me.

Today’s Post is Short

Hi. I had rather a tough day today, so I won’t write much. I spent a lot of time today unsuccessfully trying to help a friend. Sorry about the vagueness. Later, I was eating a sandwich when I sneezed quite hard. Some went on the computer screen. Some went into my stomach. Some went down my windpipe. I coughed violently for 20 minutes. My lungs burned. I felt dizzy. Now, I am exhausted.

So when people tell you not to eat in front of your computer, they mean it.

My computer screen.

TIDBITS

1) When I was growing up, milkmen would deliver milk to your doorstep. They also sold, eggs, butter, and cream. They saved so many trips to the store when only when of these ingredients was missing. And who wants to go to the store for just one thing when baking? When I lived in the Netherlands, the milkmen would deliver all that to your home. They’d also sell soup, jam, and beer. Yes, beer. Who wants drunk people driving to the store when their party runs of beer?

2) We really do need to bring back the American milkman. The Dutch milkman would be even more appreciated. But we need more. For how many times have you gone to the store just for flour? Just for lettuce or tomato? And especially just for one herb? We need a culinary mobile, making door-to-door delivers of: herbs, spices, and produce. We’d, of course, also want dairy products. I’d nominate any one who’d provide this service for a Nobel Prize. I can conceive of no worthier cause.

A New World View

I was a getting in a rut. I saw the same programs. I read the same articles. I got the same viewpoints day after day. Future days seemed destined to be just like days gone by. I  desperately needed to view the world differently. So I jumped as high as I could and flipped upside down at the top of my leap. Wow, what a difference! This is what I saw while heels over head.

The world will never look the same.

All You Need to Know About the Weather in Poway, CA

short sleeve weather

The following statements about Poway’s weather are generally true all year and especially so now.

You can forecast the weather simply by looking out the window.

If the sky is clear, it’s already warm outside. It will stay warm all day. Wear a short-sleeve shirt.

If the sky is completely cloudy, it is cool outside. It’ll probably stay cool. Keep warm; wear a long-sleeve shirt. However, just to be safe, check the sky later in the day. If the clouds dissipate or blow away, the temperature will rise. You could change into a short-sleeve shirt. In times of such changes in the weather as these, however, I recommend a thin, long-sleeve shirt. It doesn’t pay to take chances.

Well, that’s you need to know about forecasting the weather in Poway, CA, my fair city.

Saluting Our Nation’s Fallen on Memorial Day

I give a big salute to all of America’s servicemen and servicewomen who paid the ultimate sacrifice on battlefields and battle seas around the world. May they rest in peace. May we always remember them.

My father fought the evil Nazis in Germany in 1945. After the war ended there, his division, the 86th infantry, was transferred to the Pacific Ocean to fight the Japanese. It is likely he would have been in any invasion of Japan as his division had had amphibious training. He did not die in Germany and he did not die in Japan as the war ended before his division could have been sent into action.

The fact that he came to pick up his life again, to marry, and to have kids, my brother and I, makes me appreciate even more our men and women who never made it home.

I am proud of them.

(The bottom of the picture, I believe, is of his unit conducting invasion exercises.)
