Paul’s Awesome English Dictionary – Today’s Word: Extra Shop

We’ve all done this. Perhaps it’s in our genes. Perhaps the urge buy more than we planned was in our makeup way back to the very first living organism, the paracimmonium.

Paul’s Awesome English Dictionary – Today’s Word: Sarr

Carl La Fong, way back in 1922 complained about the slow service at his DMV. He raised his eyes to the heavens–There was ceiling in the way, but we’ll let that go–and yelled, “This place as slow as road repair.”

But we don’t have a word to describe mind-numbing slowness.

It’s high time to correct this oversight. It derives from the initials of slow “as road repair,” or “sarr.”

Paul’s Awesome English Dictionary – Today’s Word: Mindcise

Sure, we all want to be in better shape. We should exercise more. Some. Once. But we don’t. Our excuses for avoiding physical extertion are legion. So many of us completely erase  from our mind all thoughts of the workout. But not all of us. The better lazy people actively think about exercising.

But we don’t have a word to describe this behavior.

It’s high time to correct this oversight.

Nearly all of us, or our friends, have served time in Facebook’s(tm) jail for unwittingly violating community standards. Bereft of social interaction we start to nod off.

But we don’t have a word to describe this behavior.

Paul’s Awesome English Dictionary – Today’s Word: Techfind

Our forefathers and foremothers tamed the wild frontiers, desserts, and ocean armed only with: grit, the five senses, and above all, single-minded determination.

The present batch of humanity is not so impressive. We can do so little using only what our creator gave us. We need inventions to accomplish anything.

But we don’t have a word to describe this behavior.

It’s high time to correct this oversight.

Paul’s Awesome English Dictionary – Today’s Word: Eride

Why is humanity so mired in mediocrity? Why do we not post better blogs?

Because we erase ideas from our brains from lack of writing them down or simply forgetting them as soon as their thought up.

But we don’t have a word to describe this behavior.

It’s high time to correct this oversight.

Paul’s Awesome English Dictionary – Today’s Word: Bloval

We’ve all done pointless, but difficult things. Perhaps it was completely filling in the “o”s i  War and Peace. Perhaps it was balancing an egg. Perhaps it was balancing an egg on its pointy end. The skill and determination needed to bring these efforts to a success are truly worthy of our praise, if only they weren’t so useless.

But we don’t have a word to describe these utterly unimportant achievements.

It’s high time to correct this oversight.

Paul’s Awesome English Dictionary – Today’s Word: Hanselost

We’ve all lost something. Then we looked for it. Usually, the missing item was covered up or in an unexpected place. Sometimes, however, the missing object was in our hands. We went from room to room searching for the thing we carried in our hand. Usually, this missing object is a cell phone. Sometimes, we have even looked for a cell phone to call the cell phone that we misplaced in our hand. Honestly, sometimes we haven’t really progressed from our distant ancestor, the primordial ooze.

But we don’t have a word to describe this process.

It’s high time to correct this oversight.
