Tired and Not Feeling Well

It took me 90 minutes to get back home. The trip should have taken about 35 minutes, but there was endless traffic james due to omnipresent road repair. There were only four or so ways to get back home and there was road work on each and every one of them. Country road workers really did leave nothing to chance.

I got back so late that I missed half of my eye therapy session. Later  I started feeling unwell, I think from something I ate or maybe it was just stress.

Today was far too peoply out there. I hope I feel better tomorrow. I need to make a special cake.

Your DNA

Billions of years* ago the first viruses appeared on Earth. (The very first one called herself, “Frieda.”) Hundreds of millions of years* ago, the first critters made their way on to land to dry off. 3.2 million years back, Lucy of Olduvai Gorge celebrated the very first sweet sixteen party for young girls. Sure, we’ve all evolved considerably since, but what has remained constant all that time? What does your DNA have in common with that of Frieda the Virus?

Misheard Lyrics of the Drifters

Did any of you ever think the Drifters sang “tragedy” instead of “dance with me” in the song “Dance With me.” Doesn’t it change the tone of the song just a bit? Indeed, the below misheard lyrics seem particularly ominous.

Ladies, I really think you should run away from this guy. The signs are unmistakable.

Misread News Item

I misread the following news title today:

“A 46,000-year-old worm found in Siberian permafrost was brought back to life, and started having babies”
– Business Insider, July 28, 2023

I really thought for an instant that the sentence went as below. My misreading immediately conjured up startling images.

Puzzle Triumph

I finished, working mostly without stops,  at 3am. It took close to 21 hours. But its done.

A Little Bit About Me

My eyes don’t always work together. It’s not noticeable at medium-to-far distances, but reading can be quite tiring as each eye does it own thing. I’ve been doing eye therapy for about a year now and I have noticed a definite improvement in eye coordination. I’m able to read for increasing lengths of time. I have various exercises. One of them is pencilling in an adult-skill coloring book. (To the left in the below picture.) Precise pencilling is the point of this exercise. I make a great effort not to spill my pencilling into a neighboring blank sections and also to fill in every section completely. Each picture takes hours.

I enjoy jigsaw puzzles, especially the 1,000-pieces variety. I usually start when I wake up and keep going until I finish. This usually occurs in the wee hours of the morning. I find it nearly impossible to stop. The further along I get, the more I see pieces coming together in my brain. Indeed, I see envision pictures of matching pieces for a few hours after completion.

I hope you enjoy this glimpse into me; it’s not easy for me to open up.
