Misheard Rosary

Part of the Hail Mary part of the rosary is as follows:

Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners
now and at the hour of our death.

I really thought for a bit that those lines went as below. The “now and then” misinterpretation changes the meaning a bit. I my defense, my misunderstanding has Mary praying for us more often.

Misheard Lyrics of the Beach Boys

Whew! I almost forgot about blogging tonight as I was making Boston Brown Bread and watching Harvard Beats Yale 29-29.

Anyway, did any of you ever thoink the Beach Boys sang “ape” instead of “ace” in the song “Fun, Fun, Fun.” Didn’t it change the meaning of the song just a bit? You bet.

See what I mean? Quite honestly, I don’t see a second date in this man’s future.

Misheard Lyrics of the Beatles

I really thought some of the lyrics the Beatles’ song, “Paperback Writer” went:

And I thought so, who cares if his cleaning woman doesn’t understand him? As long as he pays her a fair wage and respects her and she does a thorough job, all’s good. But hey, the cleaning woman’s time in the spotlight was not to last. The true lyrics are “clinging wife,” not “cleaning woman.”

Ah well, at least I’m not the only one who misheard “Paperback Writer.” No one who heard my misheard lyrics ever corrected me.

Now you know.

Misheard Lyrics of Starship

I am not alone in mishearing this line.

Unfortunately, I found out the correct version fairly quickly. Sometimes I think these lyrics sound better than Starship’s original  “We built this city on rock ‘n’ roll.” What say you?

Misheard Prayer 2

Apparently God has a name and it’s given in the Lord’s Prayer.

Misheard Hymn

Dave Cornelius always thought that the hymn “Up From The Grave He Arose” was about gravy. It does make the hymn sound ominous.

Thanks to Dave Cornelius for sharing this misheard hymn title.

Misheard Prayer

I really thought for the longest time that the Glory Be to the Father prayer started with the following words:

Misheard #3

Apparently, the word “shouting” was really “shall be” all along. I must say that changes the meaning somewhat. God doesn’t literally think we’re all hard of hearing. Though perhaps methaphorically,
